Next-Level Security for the Buildings 

In today’s world, people are more concerned about the safety and security of their residential and commercial buildings due to the rising of robbery and theft incidents.

Intelligent doorbells have emerged as a revolutionary solution to keep their properties safe and secure. A traditional doorbell is a device with a button that, when pressed, makes a sound, which alerts the people inside the house, indicating the presence of someone at the door. Intelligent doorbells offer more features than traditional doorbells. This article explores some of the features and benefits of Intelligent doorbells. 

Video Monitoring and Real-time Alerts 

Intelligent doorbells are incorporated with high-definition cameras that allow building owners or residents to see remotely who is at the door before granting access. These cameras can also have motion-detection features, through which users can get real-time alerts on their smartphones or laptops when motion is detected. Some doorbells have also been equipped with Night vision and Face recognition features to easily recognize visitors. These capabilities enhance the security of the residential and commercial buildings. 

Two-way Communication and Connectivity 

Intelligent doorbells are equipped with built-in microphones and speakers to communicate between users and visitors. This functionality allows users to communicate with visitors remotely via an app on smartphones. When someone presses the doorbell and/or motion is detected, users can get notifications on their smartphones and they can safely communicate without opening the door. Some microphones also have Noise-cancellation features for listening clear sound. These features are most useful to residential or commercial buildings having restricted entry, providing an extra layer of security. 

Memory Storage 

As these intelligent doorbells are equipped with Motion-detection and audio communication features, they start recording videos when someone comes to the entrance. Users can remotely access the live video or recorded video at anytime, anywhere. These videos are stored in the storage medium which can be local storage or removable storage (memory card, etc.) and/or cloud storage. These types of features are essential for building security and useful in case of any security incidents. 

Integration with Home Automation Systems 

Intelligent doorbells can also integrate with smart locks, smart lights, security cameras, and voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and/or Google Assistant via home automation systems. This integration added additional safety and convenience for the users to deal with multiple incidents. For example, a delivery person comes with your package at the door, and you are away from home. Users can authorize the person via audio and video communication to open and close the smart locks and lights to keep the package safe and secure inside the building.  

Power Supply 

Intelligent doorbells are integrated with several modules that consume electricity. As these doorbells are running 24/7, modules should be efficient in consuming less power while processing, which reflects the good lifespan of the battery-operated intelligent doorbells. 

High-end Intelligent doorbells can take the benefit of Artificial Intelligence/Machine learning Algorithms to enhance the audio/visual processing capabilities, reducing false alerts, low-power schemes, etc. Several researchers and developing units are actively involved in enhancing the capabilities of these modules to maximize outputs.
